The objective of this symposium is to contribute toward the reading of stories, of the Casa dos Estudantes do Império (1944-1965), conscious of the world, of circulations and disagreements, able to undo prejudices (especially a Eurocentric vision of the CEI), the illusion of unanimity (absence of contradictions and internal conflicts) and the myth of exceptionalism of the
House in the international context.
It is a multidisciplinary symposium that brings together experts from the Social Sciences and Humanities, from academic institutions from various countries, interested in debating, in a critical and pluralistic manner, the stories, the memories, the interactions and the legacy of the Casa dos Estudantes do Império. The challenge that is proposed is to contextualize the Casa on several scales of analysis and understand it as dynamic and heterogeneous reality in an international comparative framework.
At the end of the symposium a certificate of attendance will be given to the registered participants.
