Wall of Independence, Art and Liberty

Organization: GAU – Galeria de Arte Urbana

40 years ago, with the independence of Mozambique, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Principe, Angola and, a year earlier, Guinea-Bissau, a cycle of the history of Portugal came to an end and a new era of relationship between free people opened up.

This anniversary comes as an opportunity to mark this turning point, as well as the cultural diversity that arose and which is today one of the distinguishing characteristics of Lisbon. The aim is, through urban art, to create a space of knowledge and dialogue that will reinterpret the iconographic heritage of independence in the 70s in the light of current events.

Over these four days, we will be able to follow the construction these pieces in the municipal wall of Rua Cais de Alcântara.
